My Family Room

Yesterday I posted some new pictures of our front room. Today it's the family room. This is where we spend most of our time, and I think it's the happiest, and most colorful, room in the house.

I used to have window treatments on the three windows in here. About a year ago I took then down and LOVE how much brighter and lighter the room is without them.
I framed the windows with a wide molding, which gives them some interest even without having fabric on them.

The red mid century credenza is from a yard sale- I scored it for twenty bucks, and the giant chalkboard is from Pottery Barn. I've had it for 10 years and still love it!

The little whimsical paintings are mine.

The walls are neutral- Glidden's Natural Linen. It's one of my absolute favorite wall colors.

The mantel is one of my favorite DIY projects ever. I took out the old tile, and installed the travertine, and my brother in law helped us build the mantel. Someday I want to build it the rest of the way up to the ceiling.

The yellow accents make the room so happy.

And this quote is my favorite!

My house has a really open floor plan. The family room opens up to the dining room and the kitchen. (more on that later)

Thanks for stopping by!
