I worked my way through college at at an art supply and framing store. It was the best experience for me because it taught me everything I'd ever need to know about framing artwork.
I'm so grateful I know how to do it myself, because believe me, having art professionally framed is EXPENSIVE.
This week I decided to update a picture in my family room.
I had a 16x20 enlargement made at Costco of a picture I took last weekend.
I bought a full size sheet of off white mat board at Hobby Lobby. It was big enough for me to cut a double mat out of.
Here's my trusty Logan mat cutter. For anyone who likes a good DIY project this is a great investment.
I used a scribe to draw my cut lines on the back of the matboard, but a pencil and straightedge would work too.
Set the blade and cut.
I reused the frame I already had, inserted the mat and picture, and hung it back up.
Doing it myself cost eight bucks for the mat board. A double mat cut at a frame store would easily cost 5 times as much.
I'm so happy with how it turned out!
