Leuven, Belgium. Day 1

We took the train from Holland through Antwerp, Rotterdam, and Brussels, and into the little Flemish town of Leuven. Belgium.
Leuven is a University town about 20 miles east of Brussels and it's where Lee has spent many weeks (at least 10) for work. I'd also been to this city last year on our trip to Europe, but it was wonderful to be back. We used Leuven as a stopover on our way to and from Paris, and as a place to meet up with Lee's boss Dave, his wife Debbie, and a coworker Jeff, who were all there for work, and who would be our travel buddies for our trip down to Paris.
We had an afternoon to walk around, do a little shopping and eating, and soak up the sights of this quaint little city.

Every cafe has a beautiful sign out front advertising their menu.
We were starving since we'd skipped breakfast and it was late afternoon. So we stopped at a cafe, ate outside, and people watched.

This is the top of St Peter's church. The bells ring every hour.

We were so excited to find our favorite waffle stand open.
These things are so good!

Really.......beyond good! So good I'd make a stop in Leuven just to eat one.

The town is loaded with beautiful sculptures and art.

The city center was hopping, since it was a friday night. There were a lot of things going on, and a lot of people out enjoying the town.
This puppeteer was making his marionette dance to Janis Joplin. Classic.

The building below is the High School, class was just getting out as we walked by.

We didn't buy any of these but they sure looked good.

There's a small canal that runs through town.

This ornate building is City Hall. It's pretty spectacular.

Here's the view from our hotel room.

And the sun setting on the city.

We went to bed early in anticipation for our trip to Paris the next morning.
